Puffy Eye Treatments

After the excess of partying on News Year Eve I thought that this would be a helpful post! D-puff and get ready to party again!

A few things that will get rid of your puffy eyes are..

Slices of cold cucumber or raw potato over your eyelids. This will cool your eyes, reduce the puffiness and also remove any dark circles. Lie down and leave on for 15-30 minutes. The natural astringent powers in them both constricts blood vessels and reduces swelling. Potato is meant to be very effective in removing dark circles too because of its high starch content.

Tea bags of chamomile is also an effective natural remedy. Moisten two tea bags with cold water and rest them on your closed eyes for 15 minutes.

Dip two cotton wool balls in cold milk and place on your eyes for 5 to 10 minutes.

Take 2-3 cold strawberries, cut into thin slices and put them on your eyes. Strawberries contain alpha-hydroxy, which is very effective for keeping skin smooth and fresh. Don’t forget to wash your eyes afterwards.

Drink lots and lots of water! Rehydrate!

Egg White and Lemon Face Mask

The egg white and lemon in this mask cleans the pores and helps to remove blackheads. This should only be used once a week. This can be a good way to use the eggs whites left from when you make mayonnaise too!

INGREDIENTS

1 tbslpn lemon juice

1 egg white

1 tspn sugar

PREPARATION

Mix all the ingredients well.
Apply on the face and leave for 5 minutes.
Apply more of the mask and leave for 15 more minutes.
Wash with warm water and pat skin dry.
Enjoy your soft skin!

Banana Face Mask

Our skin has a protective barrier of fats that clump together and create a waterproof layer to keep water in and foreign substances out. Cold or hot weather, wind, air-conditioning and heating can damage this layer of skin, making it dry and flaky. When you smear the banana mask on your face, the fat molecules in the banana form a temporary waterproof layer over your face, giving your skin cells a chance to rebuild their moisture levels.

This is a great mask for wrinkles and smells yummy. Making your own moisturizing banana face mask is easy, less expensive than the shop brought face masks and fun.

INGREDIENTS

1/4 banana

PREPARATION

Mash the banana until creamy.
Apply on face and leave for 15-20 minutes.
Rinse off with warm water, pat skin dry.
Enjoy your soft skin!

Smoothing Face Mask

This is another great smelling face mask that will soothe and smooth your skin. Smells yummy and is easy to make. I just love how so many items in your kitchen and refrigerator can be used for the outside of your body! Step away from that expensive make up counter Diva…you have everything you need at home!

INGREDIENTS

1/2 banana

1/2 ripe avocado

1 tblspn cucumber, chopped

1 tbslpn yoghurt

1 tblspn olive oil

PREPARATION

Mix all the ingredients in a blender. Process until smooth.
Apply a layer on the face and neck and leave for 30 minutes.
Wash with warm water and pat dry,
Enjoy your soft skin!

Honey and Cream Face Mask

This is the quickest face mask to prepare and it has also the quickest effect, since it contains medium chain fatty acids in the free form, sugars, vitamins (specially vitamin A), minerals and trace elements. It will leave your skin very smooth.

INGREDIENTS

1 tblspn double cream

1 tblspn honey

1 tbspn baking soda

PREPARATION

Mix the baking soda with the cream until it starts to look like shaving foam.
Add the honey and mix well.
Apply to the skin and leave for 20 minutes.
Rinse off with warm water and pat face dry.
Enjoy smooth skin!

Garlic Spot Removal

Not only for repelling Vampires, garlic can be used to repel spots! Garlic is the best antiseptic and antimicrobal substance that removes spots quickly. It fits both the oily and the acne skincare. The applied area will sting or awhile, but after thirty minutes the effect will be shown. The garlic treats the pimples and nourishes the skin with vitamin B group (like B6), vitamin C and potassium.

1 squeezed clove of garlic, using the juice

INGREDIENTS

4 to 5 ripe strawberries
2 tspns double cream
1 tspn honey

PREPARATION

Mash the strawberries and add the cream and honey. Mix well into a paste.
Apply to your face immediately, avoiding the eye area.
Sit back, relax and leave the mask on for 20 minutes.
Rinse off with warm water.
Pat dry and enjoy your soft skin.

Strawberry Teeth Whitener

Another use for the yummy strawberry. It can be eaten, put into a foot scrub, as part of a face mask and also as an ingredient to help whiten your teeth. The reason for this is the malic acid that helps to remove surface discolouration. Combined with my favourite product, baking soda, strawberries become a natural teeth stain remover! It is a fast, cheap and natural way to brighten your smile. Although giving me something sparkly would achive the same bright smile….

INSTRUCTIONS

Crush a strawberry to a pulp, then mix with the equal amounts of baking soda until blended.
Use a toothbrush to spread the mixture onto your teeth and leave for 5 minutes.
Brush thoroughly to remove the paste, rinse and floss to remove any pips.
Smile!
